Developmental Disabilities Programs
Educational, employment, and residential plans are built to meet the individual needs of people with mild to severe disabilities. All ages are served; a range of programs is located throughout the Black Hills. Combined, the programs work with about 130 people. The organization is recognized as a national leader in matching people with developmental disabilities to appropriate jobs - and in developing manufacturing operations where these people work alongside non-disabled workers. Black Hills Special Services Cooperative recruits, trains, and licenses its own foster homes for children who will benefit by a family setting. It operates eight group homes, and a network of supervised apartments for adults.
